Not just fake meat, but fake milk

I wrote previously about the serious advances in the fake meat business. A lot of the drive around this has nothing to do with health, and a lot to do with the environment. Cows are problematic for the environment both because they emit a lot of methane, and because they require clearing of a lot of land. This means that they’re not only problematic when you have them for dinner, but also when they’re used to make milk, and therefore butter, cheese, yogurt, etc…. So, there are startups targeting not just meat replacement, but also milk replacement. Perfect Day just closed a $140 million Series C round to do exactly that. As with feat (I can call fake meat that, can’t I?), keep your eye on this space.
